Star wars a rogue one review
If we're now in the business of making movies to fix other movies' plot holes, couldn't we at least do it without adding additional plot holes?Īnyway, I'm sure some fan out there has a very detailed explanation for this phenomena in Rogue One, and, if that's the case, please let me know. Overview - From Lucasfilm comes the first of the STAR WARS stand-alone films - ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, an epic adventure. While different from every other Star Wars movie, it is able to hold its own. After characters like Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and others appeared on the screen during The Force Awakens, it didn’t leave too many others to be introduced in Rogue One. Abram’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens (or Episode VII) brought back the nostalgia of the original Star Wars trilogy, then Rogue One blazes the path to where Disney can take this universe for the future. Maybe the reason it bothers me so much is that the entire story of Rogue One is essentially correcting a plot hole from the original Star Wars: Why was there such a gaping design flaw in this very important space station? As we learn in Rogue One, the guy who built the Death Star intentionally included this flaw for the rebels to destroy it. Rogue One, while it made an attempt to, could not. The Force is strong with the first Star Wars stand-alone story. Rogue One looks and feels like a war movie.
Gone are the opening crawl and scene transition. As for Rogue One: This is a darker, grittier, more modern film that pulls significantly back (albeit not completely) in the humor department and seems to be more seriously invested in the 'war' part of Star Wars.

The Rebel Alliance finds out about the Empire’s secret weaponas well as possibly the only way to destroy it. Star Wars is a universe, but a Star Wars movie is whatever its particular goals are. But couldn't the writers have come up something a little more compelling or believable than a wooden staff and a night stick? It would be the same movie-hell, even put some electricity on the damn stick and it would make sense. Rogue One drops us in the midst of the Galactic Civil War: the Death Star, last seen in 2005’s Revenge of the Sith, is now operational after many delays. The movie would be no fun if the Empire sent a large team of truly competent soldiers to kill the heroes in the first scene. Before I even saw Rogue One opening night, friends of mine were already telling me that the score by Michael Giacchino was disappointing. It was a damn fun experience at the cinema and it’s a thrill to finally enjoy at home, a viewing environment that unique benefits this installment, even if Lucasfilm badly needs to re-think its approach to. Sure, there are other plot holes in Rogue One: Why does the Empire always just send a few guys to check out a strange docked ship? Why is it always so easy to fit into a Galactic Empire uniforms and armor? Why are very important computer consoles located at the end of narrow walkways hundreds of feet in the air? Why is it so easy to fake Empire landing codes? These I'm also willing to overlook because it's just an entertaining movie about spaceships that shoot lasers. Rogue One is an unexpectedly great film, ranking behind only the original Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back in this franchise.
